No, we're still here. Going back to work after having the summer off is always a hard adjustment for me. It's exponentially harder now that I have a child, and going back to work means going from spending almost every waking moment together all summer to being apart for 8 1/2 hours a day. It's hard. I miss my doodlebug when I'm at work. But, after being back at work for three weeks now, I'm getting back into my teaching groove, and we're getting used to the new routine. Hopefully, I'll get back into my blogging groove soon, too.
Today is September 14. That means exactly one month from today my baby will turn THREE!! How is that possible? I can't believe he's not a baby anymore. He's practically not even a toddler anymore. Soon he'll just be a kid. A big kid. Although it's sad to see his babyhood over, he really is becoming more and more fun. He is sweet and funny, he loves to give hugs and kisses, he is starting to ask questions, he notices EVERYTHING, he sings and dances, and talks up a storm. He is so much fun.
Some brief updates...
We're still working on potty training. After a few weeks of great success back in July, he decided he didn't want to go on the toilet anymore. I didn't push it. I just let him call the shots. But, lately, I've started putting him in underwear again (at home) and he's done pretty well. He still won't POOP on the potty, but he will pee.
Henry and his cousin Nathan have become good friends. They both love trains, so they spend the majority of their time together playing at their train tables (they each have one). Henry loves it when Nathan chases him, and Nathan will usually oblige. They have the occasional problem sharing toys, but I think they will grow up being best friends, and I'm so glad.
Jumping together in Henry's crib...
The hug...
The tackle...
Henry loves dirt! Mommy hates dirt! He likes to play in what he calls "the garden," but which is really an empty raised bed of dirt. One minute he's innocently playing on the grass, and the next minute, he's covered in dirt. He ends up with dirt everywhere. I do mean everywhere. Our every other night bath schedule has turned into an every night thing with frequent wipe-downs in between. We really need to get a sand box.
So, we're still here, and I will try to get back to updating more often.
